Louise Line: Off and running
Last week, I had the honor of opening the doors to the new, Rochester Intermodal Station on Central Avenue.
As a part of my infrastructure agenda, I’ve spent much of the last decade working hard to make our new station a reality. Seven years ago this month, I secured the first federal grant necessary for the preliminary engineering work and in 2012 I secured a competitive, $15 million Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) award needed for a completely new station. It’s been a busy job and one that I could not have done alone.
I want to thank everyone who worked around the clock to build our world-class station, which will help travelers across our region get where they need to go safely and efficiently. It’s because of their help that the new, modern station stands strong today.
Last week’s grand opening was a welcome worthy of Rochester and I’m so pleased that our new train station is now fully-functional, ADA-accessible and open for business. Here’s to a new era of faster, more reliable transportation in our region!
