Louise Line: Defending Our Veterans
Today we celebrate Veterans Day, a reminder of the debt of gratitude we owe to those brave men and women who wore the uniform and served in our nation’s Armed Forces. I have always been proud to work on behalf of our region’s more than 70,000 veterans to guarantee they receive the benefits they deserve for their sacrifice.
From increasing job-training and employment opportunities post-deployment to fighting veteran homelessness, I have worked tirelessly to protect our service men and women when they come home from war and long after. Earlier this fall, I helped break ground on the new Veterans Clinic for which I obtained federal funding. This new facility will help expand health services for our local veterans and ensure they can get care right here in our community for years to come. I’ve also helped secure funding from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Supportive Services for Veterans Families Program, which assists local vets with housing stability, provides mental health care and other vital services.
This Veterans Day is a solemn opportunity to thank all our servicemen and women and their families for their selfless sacrifice. If you are a veteran or know a veteran who may require assistance receiving benefits, please do not hesitate to call my office at 585-232-4850 or stop by 3120 Federal Building, 100 State Street, Rochester, NY 14614.
