Louise Line: Goodbye, Graham-Cassidy!
This afternoon, Senate Republicans pulled the plug on their Graham-Cassidy bill, a rush job and last-ditch resurrection of TrumpCare that would’ve wreaked havoc for tens of millions of American families.
Make no mistake, your voices, calls, emails, and letters were essential to this fight and will be critical as we move forward together—Democrat and Republican—to strengthen and improve the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Senate Republicans’ decision to pull this bill does not mean our fight is over. That’s why I recently joined more than 100 of my colleagues in sending a letter to Speaker Ryan outlining bipartisan solutions to improving the ACA. This proposal included everything from reauthorizing and making permanent federal reinsurance programs, funding cost-sharing reduction subsidies, getting more people—especially young people— covered, and expanding premium assistance. Today we celebrate this victory and double down on our efforts to strengthen and improve the ACA!
